For the birders, TUINHUIS promises to be most rewarding, as there are numerous raptors that make this mountainous terrain their home. Indigenous Protea shrubs grace the property, luring the elusive Gurney's Sugarbird to its nectar rich flowers.

Special species such as Blue-spotted Wood-Dove, African Broadbill, Eastern Nicator, Gorgeous Bush-Shrike, Orange Ground-Thrush, Crested Guineafowl, Mountain Loerie as well as Crowned and Black Eagle can be found which are some of the 600 bird species to be found in the mountain with more than 500 plant species.
